Dental Check Ups And Why They Are Necessary

When people say a regular dentist’s check up is a necessary thing, they are not wrong. However, if you understand that to mean any more regular than once every 6 months then you might have the wrong idea. A regular check up only needs to happen twice a year, and it is only in a case of a procedure that you would need to go any more regularly than that. So being lazy about going to the dentist makes next to no sense as it is something you only really need to do twice in one year. So all you need to do is call up a dentist like Dr. Riggs, and get an appointment for your next regular visit.

To help you understand why they are necessary and what happens, we will give a small break down of an actual visit. There are two main things that are usually done; the regular check up, and then a following clean up. During the first part, the dentist will be making sure that your teeth are clean and there are no further problems that need to be addressed before moving on. Your teeth are checked for any cavities inside and in between your teeth. You will also be checked for any tartar or plaque deposits. These are materials that can harder on your teeth and then required professional tools to remove as regular flossing or brushing will not get rid of it. If any issues are found, they can usually be dealt with there and then, or you may be asked for one follow up session but only if there is a lot to do. Then comes the scaling or cleaning to remove any deposits that may be there and then polish is applied.
